Why money mindset matters

It’s a term that increasingly gets associated with manifesting and spirituality, but the reality is that money mindset is far more simple than that, and it affects every single one of us, whether we know it or not.

Money mindset is your approach and attitude towards all things money. You might not be aware of the state of your money mindset right now, but you can be sure that you’ve got a set of beliefs that are shaping the way you view money and feel about it, consciously or subconsciously.

Why does this matter, you might be thinking? Well, it’s easy to think that negative thoughts and feelings about money will all disappear when you have more money, or ‘enough’ money and that any negative thoughts are because you don’t have as much money in the bank as you’d like. That’s not actually true - your money mindset is completely separate to the number in your bank account.

How you think and behave about money affects your everyday life, especially in the workplace or in business when you’re earning money and asking to be paid. Plus, there’s often a correlation between negative money mindset and financial health, because thoughts frequently turn into actions. Negative beliefs about money can shape our decision making and the actions we take, which ultimately knock on to our financial situations.

Understanding your money mindset and why you believe what you do about money is the starting point in shifting your mindset around money, especially if it’s a topic you find uncomfortable or challenging. Awareness of your beliefs gives you the knowledge to address them and ultimately build new, positive beliefs about money and wealth.
